The Dress and
Tuxedo
Think comfort and elegance.
The best thing to do is to go to a bridal dress shop and just
start trying dresses on.

Bring along a friend whose opinion you trust and who you also
know will be honest with you. Grab a bunch of dresses and try
on one right after another.
You will soon find that there is a certain style which flatters
your figure and is comfortable too. You may be surprised to
find that the style of dress you always dreamed of, say for
example an empress cut, simply does not look as nice or feel as
comfortable as an a-line gown.
You should also take into consideration what the weather
will be like on the day of your wedding; if you are ahead of
the game and are buying your gown months beforehand then you
should not forget that the weather will likely change between
now and then.
Do not purchase a gown a size or two too small and promise
yourself that you will lose the weight to fit into it by the
time your wedding date rolls around.
By the same token, don’t panic if you need a larger dress
size than usual when trying on the wedding gowns…for one reason
or another many wedding gown sizes are listed as larger than
they should be.
The white/off-white debate rages on. As tradition would have
it, virgins wear white on their wedding day while non-virgins
don off-white gowns.
This is not followed very strictly nowadays, and in fact a
virgin can strut down the aisle in a powder blue wedding dress
while a non-virgin can sport the whitest gown ever.
You can follow this tradition if you would like to, but a
better guide might be looking at which color best suits your
skin tone. For many women, a bright white wedding gown simply
overpowers them while an off-white gown looks perfectly
elegant.
This is not the time to show off your assets. Sure, you want to
look good. This is not the time, though, to push your bust out
to the point of popping from the dress, nor is it the
appropriate time to wear a wedding dress that is so tight that
it leaves nothing to the imagination.
A glowing bride in a wedding gown is beautiful enough; she
doesn’t need to flaunt all her curves too.
Remember that you will be looking at the photographs from
this occasion for years to come, and do you really want to show
your future daughter pictures of you shimmying down the aisle
in a dress which you can hardly breathe in?

If you insist upon showing off your body then you may want
to consider changing into a second (and more form fitting)
dress either at the reception or instead as your getaway
outfit.
THE TUXEDO
Your fiancé should have a say in his outfit! You should
naturally have a say in what your fiancé chooses to wear for
the wedding, but the ultimate decision is up to him.
The best thing you can do is to take a trip to a tuxedo rental
shop and have a look around together. Have him try on some
suits and ask him about which ones he likes.
You can attempt to coordinate his suit with your dress, but
if he absolutely falls in love with the idea of wearing an
ascot while you are dressed in an understated gown then you may
just have to accept the fact that you don’t necessarily mesh in
a fashion sense.
As long as you mesh in a relational way then you’re doing
just fine.
Do you want to color coordinate? If you remember back to
your prom days you may recall that oftentimes the boys would
wear cummerbunds and ties which were the same color as their
dates’ dresses.
Other boys would wear suits which matched the color of their
date’s gowns perfectly.
Although this is a cute look, you should not feel compelled to
do this unless you find it ideal.
If your fiancé chooses to wear a simple black suit then you can
always add a boutonnière of a similar color to your wedding
color themes, whatever those might be.
There are more options than the traditional tuxedo. Just as you
have endless options when picking out your wedding gown, your
fiancé will be faced with many different choices as well.

There are many different styles to tuxedos and many different
colors too. Maybe your fiancé has always wanted to wear a zoot
suit.
Perhaps he envisions getting married while wearing a white
tuxedo jacket instead of the classic black. He might even want
to sport a suit with tails, a hat, and a cane.
If your fiancé wants to personalize the outfit he wears on the
day of the wedding then you should encourage him and be glad
you have a fiancé who has some individual style….. so long as
he is not trying to get married in ripped jeans and a tank top
while you are standing there is a formal gown and veil.
